Dr. Tejpal CS | Biological Sensors | ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology | India

Dr. Tejpal C.S. is an accomplished Indian fisheries scientist currently serving as Scientist at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Cochin. He holds a Ph.D. in Fish Nutrition and Biochemistry from CUSAT, Cochin, an M.F.Sc. in the same field from the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai—where he received the Gold Medal and the Dr. Jalihal Endowment Best Thesis Award—and a B.F.Sc. from KVAFSU, Mangalore, where he was honored with the prestigious Jindal Fellowship. Dr. Tejpal’s research focuses on fish nutrition and biochemistry, aquaculture stress physiology, and nutrimetabolomics, with emphasis on sustainable aquaculture systems, low-cost feed formulations using locally available ingredients, and plant-derived proteins with stress-relieving properties. His work explores the role of neurotransmitters in aquatic animal welfare and employs advanced nutrimetabolomics approaches to study physiological stress caused by global warming, environmental pollutants, and crowding, while also developing dietary interventions—such as L-Tryptophan, nucleotides, marine oils, and brewer’s yeast—to improve growth, immune response, disease resistance, and overall aquaculture productivity. His research is highly relevant to global challenges in food security, aquaculture resilience, and environmental sustainability. Dr. Tejpal has published 38 scientific documents, which have been cited 968 times across 892 publications, and he holds an h-index of 19, reflecting his strong academic influence and contribution to the field.
